In the Lanseria area, feral cats live in hospital corridors, bus depots, parking lots, and informal settlements. Most never see a vet. Most are never sterilized. Working with rescuer Nina Wilson and Lanseria Ferals, and backed by your donations, Animals First Aid has helped trap, treat, sterilize, and either safely rehome or return more than 230 cats and kittens in just two years. That means injuries treated. It means infections controlled. It means entire colonies being humanely stabilized. It means cats like Huey — a gentle colony cat found hunched in bushes, barely able to walk — getting emergency intervention instead of dying unseen.

Right now, Nina and our team are paying roughly R500 per cat (about $27 / £21 / €25) to sterilize, vaccinate, test for disease, and treat parasites. This is the only humane way to keep suffering from multiplying. We’re also actively covering emergency cases: at Leratong Hospital, where a desperate elderly doctor had been quietly feeding an exploding colony; at Windsor, where a struggling family handed over kittens they couldn’t afford to treat; and at outreach events where we show up in the middle of the night because no one else will. Your donations are the reason“there is money for petrol to rush a cat to the vet at 2am” is even a sentence we can say.
