Vera Vita is an older rescuer caring for dogs and cats almost entirely alone. She has sold what little she owned to keep them fed. On freezing nights, she lies on the floor and lets the dogs press against her body so they don’t die from the cold. She has carried dogs to the vet by hand because there was no car and no one to help. She recently dragged her exhausted body through full vaccination rounds for her rescued dogs, one by one, because unvaccinated dogs risk disease and seizure by authorities.

She told us that she cried from pain and fear that she might fail them. When supporters step in, that fear lifts. When you sent help, vaccines were paid for, dogs were safe, and Vera could breathe for a moment.

But winter is coming again. Vera urgently needs firewood, blankets, insulation, and food before the first snow arrives. Without help, the weakest animals simply won’t make it through. Every contribution we receive for Serbia is immediately turned into warmth, medicine, and food for her rescued animals. That is how direct this pipeline is. There is no corporate buffer. It’s love, then money, then survival.
