Because of you, Animals First Aid’s work in Tanzania keeps expanding. You helped us stand beside OCI and ADEL. As AFA grows and more people take notice, another dedicated organization has turned to us.

Meet our new partner, Meru Animal Welfare Organization (MAWO). Founded in 2010 by Johnson Lyimo, MAWO grew from local concern about the suffering of animals in their communities. For more than 15 years, this Tanzanian organization has brought veterinary care and humane education to animals and families who need them.

In 2025 alone, MAWO’s mobile clinics served 4,038 donkeys across Simanjiro and Arumeru. Its team helped install 12 water troughs and trained 120 women as Donkey Welfare Champions, teaching gentle handling, proper harnessing and basic care they could share with their communities.

Now Animals First Aid is proud to stand beside them—with you.

These donkeys carry water that families depend on. Yet access to drinking water for the donkeys themselves is a serious concern. MAWO’s report describes dehydration and fatigue in the dry communities where they work. Their clinics also provide wound treatment, hoof trimming and eye care.

An animal carrying water for others deserves a chance to stop and drink. A donkey with a painful wound deserves treatment.

We couldn’t turn away. But saying yes takes more than love.
