For the third month in a row, Association Zina has come to Animals First Aid because the animals in her care need help.

For two months, we had to say no.

Not because the need was small. Not because the animals could wait. But because there simply were not enough funds to meet every emergency.

Now Zina is asking again—and this time, we cannot bear to turn her away.

In Souk El Arbaa, her small team keeps returning to the streets for the cats and dogs no one else will protect. They bring food to animals exhausted by the heat. They find the sick and injured. Earlier this year, Zina rescued a female dog who had been struck in the stomach. She found the medicine the dog needed from France and agreed to surgery when the veterinarian discovered a hernia and a torn uterus. Zina did everything she could.

Four days after the operation, the dog died.

There was no time to grieve. Other hungry animals were already waiting. Another sick cat could disappear. Another injured dog could need a veterinarian before morning.

That is why Zina keeps asking. And it is why hearing “no” for a third month could be devastating.
