For years now, one rescue has stood beside Animals First Aid through every challenge imaginable.

When emergencies erupted…
 When food ran dangerously low…
 When hundreds of abandoned animals had nowhere else to go…

Together, we’ve helped Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir (SARA Morocco) continue one of the largest rescue operations we’ve ever partnered with.

Today, they need us again.

Not for one dog.

Not for one cat.

For an entire sanctuary that refuses to give up.

But before I tell you about the hundreds still waiting for food tonight, I want you to meet one very special soul.

His name is Naji.

Naji was found after being struck by a car.

His injuries were so severe he had to be rushed to Marrakech for surgery. Surgeons inserted a metal pin into his front leg in the hope they could save it. Even today, his leg remains swollen as he slowly recovers. 

Most dogs would have every reason to stop trusting people after suffering so much.

Naji didn’t.

Even after the pain…
 Even after surgery…
 Even after weeks of recovery…

He still greets the people caring for him with happiness.

He still wags his tail.

He still believes tomorrow can be better.

That joy survived when everything else almost didn’t. 

Sadly, Naji isn’t alone.

Recently, SARA rescued two horses that had been left to slowly waste away.

When they arrived, their bodies told the story.

They were painfully thin. Every rib visible. Weak from prolonged neglect and malnutrition.

Today they are finally safe.

They have food.

They have veterinary care.

They have people fighting for them every single day.

They’ve already started gaining strength—but their recovery is far from over. 

And behind these individual rescues lies something almost impossible to comprehend.

Every morning, the SARA team wakes up knowing there are more than 900 rescued dogs, around 200 rescued cats, and rescued horses and other vulnerable animals relying on them for food, clean water, medical treatment and safety. 

That means preparing thousands of meals.

Cleaning hundreds of kennels.

Treating injuries.

Administering medication.

Comforting frightened newcomers.

And somehow finding enough resources to do it all again tomorrow.

Animals First Aid has proudly stood alongside SARA longer than any other rescue partner in our network.

We’ve watched this sanctuary grow from an emergency refuge into a lifeline for animals who would almost certainly have died without them.

But compassion alone doesn’t buy food.

It doesn’t pay veterinary bills.

It doesn’t repair shelters.

And it certainly doesn’t feed over a thousand hungry mouths every day.
